Cricket Force 2018

It’s Cricket Force time again on Saturday 7th and 8th April and we need your help.

The central focus of our work this year is our new deck. The new windows have now been fitted and our next challenge is to build the deck for us all to enjoy over the summer. That needs people with skills in areas like brick laying and joinery. But it also needs labourers – people to lend a hand, make the tea and all that.

And of course that’s only one of the jobs that we have to do; we have a list...

The more of us who come down and give a bit of our time, the more we will get done to spruce up the club and prepare for our 2018 summer of cricket.

We will be working from 9am until we run out of energy. So come when you can. And if you can’t make it over the weekend – get in touch and let us know when you can help; we’ll find a job for you I’m sure.

So please come along and be part of the Force. And if you have friends or family that might enjoy the camaraderie of being part of the team, bring them too. Let’s make this the best Cricket Force yet.

Membership Fees

Membership for 2018/19 are now due. Look out for your letter coming through the door or into your inbox soon.

This year’s letter will also include some information on other ways in which you can support the club. Please give them your consideration.

Indoor League

Our indoor league fixtures concluded a couple of weeks ago - we had 1 win and 1 defeat on our final outing but the Strathie 6 finished outside the top 4 and missed out on finals night. The season ending finals took place last night with Kinloch being crowned champions.

Pre-season

Pre-season training has been taking place on Sunday afternoons up at the Forfar Campus as we prepare for the season ahead. These Sunday afternoon sessions are taking an Easter break this weekend - some of the guys will be netting through at Forthill's facility on Sunday evening instead. Keep a look out for more info about training times for the next couple of weeks when we will be moving outdoors.

Ahead of the first league game of the season, we have a number of friendlies lined up, starting off with a match at home against Dunnikier on Saturday 14th April.

Junior Cricket

Having been snowed off by the "Beast from the East" at the beginning of March, junior night is back at the Campus on Friday 6th April.

Away from our own monthly sessions, coaches have been busy visiting schools, running after-school clubs and last week also had a guest spot at Strathmore Rugby Club's Friday afternoon Rugby Academy.

Registrations are steadily coming in for All Stars - both new participants and returning stars. With just over 6 weeks until launch night it looks like we're in for another summer of All Star fun at Lochside!

We're still on the lookout for volunteers who may be interested in helping to run our All Stars sessions - if you think that may be you (or someone you know) then get in touch. Training is scheduled to take place in mid-April so don't delay.

More Than Cricket

Three committee members attended Cricket Scotland’s annual clubs’ forum on the 24th of March in Stirling. There were inspirational presentations from clubs across the country and lots of opportunities for us to learn.

It was also very re-assuring that we are doing lot’s of the right things to regenerate our club and make it fit for purpose in 2018.

The big message was that if you want to succeed, you need to be about more than cricket. Clubs need to be contributing to their community in other ways. So, any ideas for ways in which we can support activities in the town and make Forfar a better place to live – we’d love to hear them. Just drop us an email at StrathmoreCC@hotmail.com or have a word with one of our committee members.
