Coming Soon:

Women’s Soft Ball Festivals

Women’s Soft Ball cricket is coming to Lochside.

This year, we will be staging three Women’s Soft Ball Festivals, with the first scheduled for Wednesday 27 June 2018 at 6.30pm.

Soft Ball festivals are fun, social and sporting events for women of all ages. They offer a mix of coaching, playing and socialising opportunities in an all female environment.

All games are played with a soft ball – so no risk of anyone getting hurt – and with branded equipment produced specifically for the events.

So why not come along and encourage others to do so.

There will be music, free T shirts for players, a welcoming glass of Prosecco and copious supplies of coffee and cake.

If you want to know more, email the club at strathmorecc@hotmail.com

Fun Around the Loch

The club is taking part in the Fun Around Forfar Loch event on Sunday 17 June 2018. The event is part of Forfar Gala Week.

From 11am – 4pm there will be an opportunity for anyone to take part in some fun cricket challenges at Lochside.

Forfar Gala Day

We have a stall at Forfar Gala Day and some time in the main arena to showcase our sport.

We’re looking for volunteers to help man the stall – so if you can help, let us know. Drop us an email at strathmorecc@hotmail.com , leave a message at the club or chat to a committee member.

And if you’re at the gala day, be sure to pop in and say hello.

Opening of the Deck

Our fabulous new deck is now almost complete and attracting complimentary feedback from all who see it.

Building the deck has been a massive effort, to which many people have contributed – and its completion merits recognition and celebration.

We’re planning an event on Thursday 28 June 2018 to thank all of those who contributed to the building of the deck through financial contributions and their voluntary labour.

Watch out for your invitation if you are one of the contributors.

Gin Night

There is a Gin Bothy gin tasting night at the club on Friday 27th July. Tickets are £17.50 which includes 4 different flavours to try, with mixers. For more info. or to book your ticket, contact Lisa McDonald.

Club BBQ

This year we are holding a members BBQ for members of all ages.

It’s happening on Saturday 1 September – so get the date in your diary.

The event will have a beach theme.

It will begin in the afternoon, with a focus on our younger members and families. There will be lots of beach activities to take part in.

A Hog roast will be the centre piece of the BBQ and this will be available early evening.

As day turns to night, there will be a disco – and again some more adult beach themed activities and challenges.

All Stars

The 2018 All Stars is up and running – blessed by some excellent cricketing weather.

Registrations for this year’s programme are up by more than 25%, which means that there are 45 children between the ages of 5 and 8 years enjoying some fabulous cricket experiences at Lochside every Friday evening.

A big thanks to the coaches – new and old. And to all of the parents who also come along and join in the fun.

Coaching Activity

May and June have been busy for junior coaching activities at the club. Over that period we have hosted:

  • Two Cub packs
  • All of the Primary 7 pupils from the Kirriemuir and Forfar Primary Schools
  • Two Guide troupes

All of the young people have enjoyed their time at the club. Let’s hope that we see them back on a more regular basis.

And again, a huge thanks to our coaches. They are working hard to give more and more young people the opportunity to enjoy great cricket experiences.

Women’s T20 Regional Tournament

Lochside played host to many of Scotland’s best women cricketers on Sunday 3 June, when it hosted the Regional T20 competition. For once this month, the weather wasn’t at its best – but two competitive games were played with one victory each for the Stormers and the Eagles.

A huge thanks to all of those who contributed to a successful day. Their efforts are much appreciated and feedback from Cricket Scotland on the facilities and arrangements was excellent.

On The Field

Following a steady start to the season, the 1st XI have found it tough going in recent weeks. They are on a 4 game losing streak in the league and also lost out to Arbroath in the 3 Counties Cup. Hopefully fortunes can be turned around this weekend up in Aberdeen.

In stark contrast, the 2nd XI have started the season extremely well and are currently unbeaten. Recent success has been in no small part down to Chris "Munk" Milne who has back-to-back hundreds to his name - can he add a third...?. After a two-week break, the 2nds are back in action this Sunday against Brechin.
