Junior Cricket at Strathmore in 2020

22 Jun 2020

At present, cricket activities are not permitted under the Scottish Government guidance for social distancing and supressing the Covid-19 virus. However, there is a possibility that this will change as the Government relaxes the lockdown.

As you might imagine, the Club is keen to resume activities as soon as it is safe and sensible to do so.

We are in discussion with Cricket Scotland, who in turn are working closely with SportScotland and the Scottish Government to agree arrangements to re-commence outdoor cricket activities. We believe that there is a real chance that cricket for people of all ages will be able to begin at some point in July.

Obviously, any resumption will take place within Scottish Government regulations in relation to Covid-19 and clear guidance provided by Cricket Scotland. Health, safety and welfare will be the priority.

As part of our planning, we are keen to find out whether our members, of all ages, are keen to return to cricket and what kind of involvement they might like. We are particularly keen to re-commence some of our junior activities; not only do we think this is important to the club, but we believe it will be of considerable benefit to children and young people who have been out of school and missing social contact for a long time.

We would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to share your thoughts. We have identified a core set of questions, which we think will help us with our planning and would like to gather your responses. But we are also keen to hear any thoughts and suggestions that you may have. We have left some space in the questionnaire for these more general responses, but would be happy to receive these by email or text message as well.

You can access the questionnaire here.

The survey will remain open until Monday 29 June 2020.

Thank you in anticipation for your contributions.

We hope to see you all back at Lochside Park in the not too distant future.
