The
first of the fund-raising social events of 2015 at Strathmore Cricket
Club is set to test the knowledge of members and guests.
A
general knowledge quiz is to be held in the clubhouse on Saturday,
January 31, with teams gathering from 7.30 pm for an 8 pm start.
Teams of up to four are invited to participate, with the entry fee set at £10 per team.
Committee
members are counting on a good turnout of teams on the night to get the
fund-raising in the new year off to a positive start.
Entry forms are available from Alan McKay, or by calling into the Lochside clubhouse.
As
plans for 2015 gather momentum, the committee has also agreed to stage a
general meeting of members in the clubhouse on Sunday, February 8 from 2
pm.
"The
management committee has been preparing plans which members believe
will help the club to develop on and off the field," explains a club
spokesperson.
"Our
ability to implement these plans is dependent on maintaining a
financially stable position and securing more active involvement from
members and friends of the club."
The
mid-December annual general meeting was very disappointing, with barely
enough in attendance to fill the various important roles on committee.
Laurance Knight
was re-elected president, with Alan McKay as treasurer and Alan Ducat
as secretary, while a number of other positions were filled.
However,
it was unanimously agreed that a number of other appointments should be
deferred until further discussion has taken place with members.
This will happen at the members’ meeting on February 8.
The focus of discussion will be on the future of the club - long and short term.
"Members
of the management committee believe that the club can have a bright
future, but only if we all commit and work together to achieve what we
all want," added the spokesperson.
"We look forward to welcoming to the meeting as many members, together with parents of junior members, as possible."
