The View From Lochside

04 Dec 2016

 A.G.M

It's that time of year again.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 11th December at 2pm in the Nigel Hazel Lounge.

This is your opportunity to hear how things have gone for the club over the past 13 months and give your input on future developments. It's also a chance for you to demonstrate your support to the committee as they try to look after your interests as members.

Please come along. It would be great to see you there.

Hogmanay @ Strathmore

Tickets for our Hogmanay event are selling well, but there are still some available. It promises a good evening - good music, good food and good company.

If you haven't secured your ticket yet, act now.

Tickets are available at the club or from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hogmanaystrathmore-tickets-28318127281?aff=eac2

Festive Draw

Tickets for the annual Festive Draw (which will be drawn on Hogmanay) are on sale. Tickets are £5 and are available at the club, from Kenny Stewart and from a few committee members. With the chance to win up to £1000 it's well worth a fiver!

Annual Smoker

The annual smoker was a great success again this year, providing an excellent evening's entertainment and the opportunity to celebrate success and achievement on the field in 2016.

Dundee and Angus Development Officer

We have been working hard with all of the major clubs in Angus and Dundee to secure the services of a full-time cricket development officer.

All that work has paid off and the worker will start work early in the New Year.

This will be a great asset to the club as he will be giving a day per week to undertaking development work on behalf of the club. He won't be replacing our existing volunteers. His priorities will be to help us build our workforce and increase the range of opportunities available.

More details next month...

Indoor Cricket

The indoor 6-a-side season started up in November. Strathie were there on the opening night and started with a victory against D & A Colleges before losing out to Kinloch in the 2nd match.

Overseas Player for 2017

Efforts are well underway to secure an overseas player for the 2017 season. Nothing concrete to report yet, but hopefully we will have arrangements in place by the end of the year.

What's On Forfar

Early in November, we took a stall at the "What's On Forfar" event. This was an opportunity for clubs and organisations in the town to promote themselves.

Some very useful connections were made on the day which we hope will lead to some coaching activity in Scouts, Guides and Girl's Brigade groups amongst others, in the New Year. We also hooked up with the Guide Dog Association and are exploring some options with them.

A big thanks to all who gave up their Saturday to staff the stall and spread the word.
