Annual General Meeting

The club AGM is on Sunday, 10th December at 2pm.

Please come along to play your part in the development of the club and hear about our year in 2017 and our plans and ambitions for 2018.

As always we will be electing our management committee. We’d be delighted to hear from volunteers to serve or to receive nominations and suggestions in advance of the event.

Watch out for more detailed notice of the business nearer the time.

Overseas Player for 2018

Chris Stevenson has been in touch to say that he is settled back in to a new season at home and thank everyone at the club for their hospitality over the summer. He is proud to have represented the club; he did this in a way that reflected very positively on the club.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed to Chris’s “Strathie experience”.

We have already started to identify an overseas player for next season.

But we have still to raise the necessary funds. Regulations state that the club cannot contribute directly to the costs of an amateur cricketer – so the funds have to be raised by “friends of Strathmore CC”. So the challenge to us all is to raise the money and donate to the player fund.

Some players have already committed funds and others are planning fundraisers. If you have an idea for fundraising, we will support and promote it.

Indoor Cricket

The indoor league is running again this winter through in Dundee. The competition gets underway on Wed, 15th November.

Junior Cricket Roadshow

We are attending a Cricket Scotland Roadshow on the 13th of November and are looking forward to hearing about new developments and formats that are being proposed for junior cricket.

Strathie Superstars

We recruited over 30 children to our All Stars programme in the Summer; an excellent effort in a town the size of Forfar.

Many of the children are now becoming superstars and coming along to indoor sessions at the Community Campus. There’s still room for more. Sessions are open to children between 5 and 9 years of age. The next session is on Friday, 1st December. Follow our social media for more details.

#Hitthedeck

We haven’t forgotten about the new deck – and all of your generous donations. Work is progressing in the background to secure the necessary building warrants and approvals and our target is to have the deck and new windows in place for the new season.

Darts, Dominos and Pool

All seasons are now well underway with our 4 teams (1 darts, 1 dominoes, 2 pool) enjoying varying degrees of success thus far...

The club held a pool, darts and dominoes challenge match against the Forfar Bowling Club last Friday night. It was a good night and ended in a victory for the cricket club. Thanks to all those on both sides that came down to take part. We look forward to having the bowling club back sometime in the new year for a re-match.

In association with the Forfar Pool League, the club also held a charity quiz night a couple of weeks ago. A big thank you to our question-master (Alan McGregor) and to those that came along. Numbers weren't quite as high as hoped but a 3-figure sum was still raised for Ataxia UK.

300 Club/Festive Draw

The final draw of the 300 Club saw Alan McKay claim the top prize for 2017.

There is still another chance for you to win up to £1000 this year - tickets for the Festive Draw (to take place at the club on Hogmanay) are £5 and will be available very soon.
