Indoor League
The Indoor 6 side have played a couple of rounds of matches since the turn of the year. Having been winless in the few games played at the back end of 2017, the Strathie 6 have now picked up a couple of wins and will be looking to build on those in the 2nd half of the indoor league season.
Overseas Amateur
We are at an advanced stage in negotiating an overseas amateur for 2018. There should be firm news in the next few weeks.
Fixtures for 2018
1st Team fixtures for 2018 are now out and available on the website. Our first home league game is on Saturday 12th May when we welcome Arbroath United to Lochside. So get that date in your diary.
Pre-season Training
Exact times & dates are still to be confirmed but we will be starting our indoor pre-season sessions in late February - keep a look out for more information in the coming weeks.
All Stars
We are delighted to announce that after the successful launch in 2017, we will be operating an All Stars programme again this summer. Our target date to start the programme is Friday 18th May, when we hope to welcome back the children who took part in our first programme. We will also be working hard to recruit new participants and give them a brilliant first experience of cricket.
Once again, Friday nights will be All Stars nights and we’re also hoping to welcome along parents, friends and carers to enjoy facilities and activities at the club.
Coaching Course
The club hosted a Coach Support Worker course a couple of weeks ago. Strathie had 3 representatives (including a couple of parents from last years All Stars) taking part alongside a group of other future coaches from across Angus.
Since taking part in the course at Lochside, Nigel Hazel has also signed up to progress on to the UKCC Level 2 course.
We look forward to seeing all of them involved in the coming months.
Cricket Force
Our annual Cricket Force weekend will be the 7th/8th April 2018.
For anyone not familiar with Cricket Force, this is a weekend on which we try to gather as many people as possible to do some work on improving and maintaining our facilities – for players and social members.
We’re hoping that the centre piece of our efforts will be installing decking in front of the clubhouse, but there will be plenty more to do as well.
So get the date in your diary. It’s a great chance to contribute to your club and have some fun as well. Yes, working as part of the cricket force is an enjoyable experience.
Watch out for more details over the next couple of months.
