Coronavirus Statement

18 Mar 2020

We have, as I’m sure everyone has, been closely monitoring the situation regarding the Covid-19 Coronavirus. Following guidance received from Cricket Scotland on Monday (16th) we have suspended all cricketing activity until further notice.

We have also taken the extremely difficult decision to close the clubhouse doors until further notice – with all guidance from the Government & Health Services advising everyone (not just those most at risk) to avoid unnecessary social contact (specifically highlighting bars and clubs), we believe this is the sensible course of action. As well as considering the welfare of any members who frequent the building, we also rely on volunteer staff to run the bar and do not believe it is a fair or responsible ask of them in the current climate. While we appreciate that this decision may be disappointing to our regulars, it was very much made with respect to the health and well-being of all our members/guests.

The bar closure in the lead up to our busiest time of year will undoubtedly have significant financial implications for the club, especially if it ends up being for a prolonged period, but we firmly believe it to be the socially responsible approach in the circumstances. We will be doing everything we can over the coming months to mitigate the impact and hope we can count on your support in what will be a difficult time for all businesses, clubs and community organisations.

With the situation evolving as rapidly as it is, we very much hope that things improve and we can return to normality sooner rather than later; at a time when we should be busily gearing up for the start of the season ahead, we instead find ourselves in a state of limbo, unsure as to when/if there will be any cricket this summer…

The current situation is obviously very challenging, but it is short term. As we move through it, we will continue to try and move the club forward and will be working on developments designed to make the club stronger in the long-term.

We will continue to monitor the Government guidance closely and keep everyone updated on our position.
