Strathmore Cricket Club is staging a quiz night for members and guests of all ages on Saturday 2 June 2012 at 7.30pm. Entry costs £8 for teams of up to four people and there will be questions to test the knowledge of people of all ages.
The club is keen to attract teams of mixed ages to the quiz and children and young people will be made very welcome providing they are supervised by an adult; a license is in place for the night to allow this to happen. Junior members are encouraged to team up with parents and grandparents and vice versa. But there are no restrictions – teams can be of any age or composition.
The proceeds from the quiz will all go to support junior cricket at Strathmore, as the club seeks to ensure that young cricketers at the club have access to the best of all equipment and coaching.
The Junior Section is about to take delivery of a new bowling machine, which will help young batsmen to develop their skills. There are also plans to purchase a tennis ball feeder to assist with fielding practice and cater for the needs of youngsters not yet ready to play with a hard cricket ball.
This year Angus Cricket Development Group has been able to employ a community coach who is providing coaching in primary schools and encouraging children and young people to carry on playing at their local clubs. Strathmore is keen to ensure that this coaching activity takes place again next year and fundraising activity this summer will help to meet costs.
Entry forms for the quiz are available at Strathmore Cricket Club. You can also enter by emailing hewitsongg@btinternet.com.
