The View From Lochside

Players Meeting

The new captaincy team (Craig & Matthew) held a players meeting last Friday. This was an opportunity for all the players to come along and share their views about what's important to them and how we can all work together for a successful season in 2017.

A good number came along and it was a positive meeting with plenty interesting ideas & suggestions to take forward.

Indoor 6s

It's been tough going at the indoor league of late. Since the turn of the year, the Strathie 6 have lost 4 out of 4 and had one of the team land awkwardly and suffer a broken arm. Hopefully Chris Milne is on the mend and back fully fit come the start of the outdoor season.

During one of the losing efforts last time out, Ed Taylor, achieved an unusual feat by taking 4 wickets in 4 balls (and having a catch dropped off the 5th ball!).

Special General Meeting

There will be a Special General Meeting on Friday, 10th February at 7pm to consider changes to our constitution.

Details of the proposed changes are attached and there are copies at the bar.

The idea is to simplify and modernise the constitution to help us adapt to changing circumstances and demands.

 Welcome James

We are delighted to say that James Colhoun is now in post as the Cricket Development Coach for Dundee and Angus. James will be working along with us at Strathie one day a week for the next 2 years.

The committee was pleased to welcome James to its first meeting of the New Year and is looking forward to building its working relationship with James.

Would you believe it?

We had a first for Strathie at the January committee meeting; our first video conference. In fact, the minutes for the meeting were taken from Montrose. Who ever said Wi-Fi in the club wouldn't be helpful.

Crowd Funding

We're planning to run a crowd funding campaign in the near future. This is a public campaign to raise funds for some developments that we'd like to take forward in the next year. The way it works is that we set a financial target and then encourage people to support us by making donations. In return, we offer rewards, with the value reflecting the size of the donations. So what could those rewards be? We have a few ideas, but we're sure you will have more. Advice tells us that the quirkier or more unusual the rewards, the more people are likely to donate. So what rewards could a cricket club make? Leave your suggestions at the bar or email them to strathmorecc@hotmail.com

Another big thing in crowd funding is building your crowd and engaging with people who will support the club, wherever they are in the world. So who should we be contacting? Are there any big names in the cricket world who you think might get behind our efforts?
